Donna Weiss, OD

Dr. Donna Weiss has designed custom contact lenses to successfully treat over ten thousand irregular eye surfaces due to keratoconus, systemic disease such as graft vs. host disease, corneal transplants, post-LASIK, radial keratotomy, post-Intacs and dry eye for clients all around the world in hospital, academic, private optometry and private ophthalmology clinics.  She lectures on custom contact lens designs and ocular pathologies around the country and enjoys elevating her profession through various educational formats. She works alongside Dr. Lorin Vogel at the Dry Eyes Los Angeles clinic to optimize the ocular surface.  Dr. Weiss has participated in clinical trials since 2005.  Her research includes contact lens innovations, surgical treatments for refractive errors and health care economics.  She treats glaucoma and co-manages the following procedures: corneal crosslinking, Intacs, conductive keratoplasty, implantable collamer lens (ICL), phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK), photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), corneal transplants, LASIK and cataract extraction.

My Story

Dr. Weiss received her first Bachelor of Science in Physiology at Northern Michigan University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2001.  She received her second Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Science along with her Doctorate of Optometry from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where she graduated with honors in 2005.  Upon graduation, Dr. Weiss joined the renowned contact lens specialty practice of Drs. Farkas, Kassalow, Resnick and Associates in New York City.

​In late 2007, Dr. Weiss relocated to Los Angeles and served as the Director of The Irregular Cornea Contact Lens Clinic at the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute through 2020.  During this time, she also served as a clinical instructor at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry, held an Assistant Professor position at the Southern California College of Optometry at the Marshall B. Ketchum University and lead the University Eye Center of Los Angeles as the Chief of Contact Lens Services.

 

​Dr. Weiss is a proud alumnus of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2014 with a Master in Public Health to begin efforts in blindness prevention.  In 2020, she was nominated as a Top Doc at the National Keratoconus Foundation.
